It’s amazing how creativity flows and people take action when they’re away from business surroundings – it’s like a very stimulating holiday, surrounded by people who know all about hospo and are totally there for you. At the latest Retreat, more than 130 Foodie Coaches members did intensive work on business strategy, staff management, cost control, sales growth, marketing and the popular 1% improvement hacks. Peter Ritchie, first employee of McDonalds in Australia (and later CEO & chairman for 32 years), inspired attendees; and sometimes the best insights come from sharing with business owners just like yourself. We also workshopped training skills, smarter hiring, in-depth financial reporting, social media agencies & branding, conflict management and team building.
The ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ sessions allowed attendees to personalise their learning experience: popular choices focused on building a dream team, improving financial reporting, establishing an impactful social media presence, working with a social media agency, better bookkeeping, and planning for future exit strategies. Participants could also explore creative storytelling techniques to engage customers or find new approaches for turning workplace conflicts into opportunities for growth.
There were so many ‘lightbulb moments’ and members left with a lengthy but achievable Action List, motivated to move quickly with changes and drive their businesses forward with energy and purpose.
Foodie Coaches Members Share Some Retreat Highlights
🔥 I have never left an event feeling so empowered with my next steps and so excited to put them into practice! Plus, I got to meet everyone and made some really great connections. Isabelle M.
🔥 All the people I met and all the content at Retreat! So worth the two planes to get there. Chris S.
🔥 I attended the Retreat, and even without all the things I need to do to be a leader, my team did amazing work without me. Angela L.
🔥 I am losing a lot of my team by Christmas, but knowing I have what it takes to grow a new team is my biggest win from Retreat – I can improve onboarding and SOPs to make this process better and less stressful. Marian F.
🔥 Other than massive knowledge gained from Retreat? Today we turned on our card surcharge fees! Hello to an extra $15K per year! Kerrie W.
🔥 Awesome week at Retreat, connecting with other members and learning so many new things; it also doubled as a holiday away from kids and venue. One staff off sick, and a few issues – I didn’t need to deal with any of them! Daniel N.
🔥 On a business level I had very little contact with my team and things have gone pretty smoothly; on a personal level I stepped so far out of my comfort zone many times over the past week and actually had a great time. Billie N.
Foodie Coaches Team Share Their Favourite Parts of Retreat
💥 Watching the newer coaches presenting was one of my biggest highlights at the Brisbane Retreat. They bring new energy and new ways of delivering with authenticity. I love seeing how they connect with people and how the content lands with our members – so inspiring. Belinda Clarke, CEO
💥 I love the sessions that stretch people’s vision and see how far they actually are from where they think they are. One of the best sessions is the venue audit, with a really detailed list of questions to go through every part of your venue – it really challenges people’s beliefs about what they are really doing. Tim Niesler – FC Accounting Co.
💥 My favourite part about Retreat is the conversations with members. Another favourite is the presentation I give on financial reporting clarity. Things that should be obvious but are a huge wake-up call for many people are how to do data entry properly and get all your income and expenses lined up in your P&L to make better decisions. Kylie Denning – FC Accounting Co.
💥 Probably my favourite session is the one on training for maximum impact. We teach people how to understand a human being and the behavioural science around training so they can be more efficient and do it faster, saving time and money. Katrina Maunier – Senior Coach
💥 I love the energy of bringing everyone together and having our team from around Australia come together in one place. My favourite session was the keynote presentation from Peter Ritchie from McDonalds. Louise Jolly – Foodie Coaches Event Organiser
💥 It’s so inspiring to hear the stories from members about how they’ve grown personally and made their businesses so much more profitable. Hospitality is usually so secretive, and no one is helped by that – here, people share openly and honestly, and everyone wins. Ken Burgin – Education & Content Specialist
💥 I like seeing how the members come together face to face, talking openly about their business and even sharing with other members. My favourite session is the 1% Bingo. Some of these sessions we’ve delivered many times, but each coach has a slightly different way of presenting it, and we discover something new each time. Marj Gordiano – Content & Course Writer
💥 I love seeing the realisations people make when they’re given the time, support and space to think about their business properly. I love the 1% Bingo – people realising that no matter what, there’s always space in your business to find another 1% to make your business even more profitable. Beautiful. Sam Robertson – Coach
💥 What do I love about Retreat? I’ve just started, and meeting all the members and connecting with everyone in a big group has been amazing. My favourite session was on strategic thinking with coaches Michelle and Ben, and seeing the business ideas that came out of that. A few crazy ones and a lot of realistic ones, with the group coming together to break down a business plan to meet profit goals – awesome. Laura Martin – Coach
💥 I love how Foodies values every member’s wisdom and how they’re encouraged to share and support each other. People come from such a wide variety of venues and backgrounds, but they all have a commonality. There’s a beautiful template for connection and community and you see that come together for people so quickly. Tracey Smith – Energy & Mindset Coach
💥 I love seeing the 30-second conversations where someone shares the one thing they find simple, and it blows the other person’s mind. Seeing people open up and realise that nobody knows it all, but everything is known by someone. You just need to ask the right person the right question. Goosebumps every time. Jimmy Griffin – Senior Coach
💥 Favourite part of the retreat was the coach connection hour when we do rapid-fire rounds answering questions. We have long-time and new members in the circle and get so many questions answered. I simply love connecting in person at Retreat; the members inspire each other, and they inspire me – these events are a big reminder of the power of our community, and they also remind me how much I love what I do. Michelle Henry – Coach
💥 My favourite thing about Retreat is the face-to-face connection – it is so impactful. Getting to know the members on a more personal level allows us to help in a more meaningful way. I also love being able to catch up face-to-face with the Foodie Coaches team, whom I don’t get to spend much time with. Ben West – Coach
